Child Individual Therapy
Making the decision to start your child in therapy can feel like a huge step. Whether your child is displaying behavioral difficulties in school or at home, is constantly worrying, is having trouble sleeping, or is having difficulty separating from you, therapy can be a great way to help your child feel better and help your family get back to a happier and healthier place.
Therapy with children looks different from adult therapy and varies from child to child. Some children require a more play-based and fun approach, while others like to sit and talk for the session. Some children require specific skills and strategies while others need to process some difficult experiences. I have experience treating children with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, behavioral challenges, emotion regulation issues, ADHD, and difficulties adjusting to changes in their lives (e.g. divorce, moving, new school, etc).
As an integrative therapist, with extensive experience with children in private practice, in schools, and other settings, I tailor my work to meet the needs of your individual child and family. I work collaboratively with parents to ensure that skills and work can be generalized to the home and I consult with schools when necessary to ensure that everyone is working together to best support your child.
Adolescent Individual Therapy
Being a teenager has always been difficult, but being a teenager in our current world is harder than ever. Between the ever changing state of the world, the burden of social media, and the constant pressure and competition that adolescents face, teenagers are dealing with more stress, anxiety, and mood problems than ever before.
Therapy for teenagers can be a life-changing endeavor. Whether your teen needs someone who is not a friend or a family member to talk to, help with processing their world and experiences, clarity in making decisions, or a push to think differently, therapy can make a world of a difference. Some teens need specific strategies and guidance to change their behaviors, skills to deal with difficult social dynamics, or help noticing and changing unhelpful patterns of thinking. I have experience treating teens with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, behavioral challenges, emotion regulation issues, ADHD, and difficulties adjusting to changes in their lives (e.g. divorce, moving, new school, etc).
Working with adolescents, I first focus on building trust and a relationship and providing teens with a safe space to talk and share their experiences. I tailor my treatment to meet the needs
Adult Individual Therapy
Adulthood brings with it a range of stressors. From college and jobs to relationships, children, and aging, there is no limit to the challenges that we face on a daily basis. Finding a therapist who you connect with and feel supported by is one of the best ways to manage the myriad of emotions and experiences that we all have to deal with.
In my work with adults, my treatment and approached is customized to fit your needs. Whether you are looking for support as you process a difficult experience, a loss, or a change in your life, or you are looking for specific skills to change how you think and feel, therapy can help. I have experience treating adults with anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, tic disorders, and difficulties in adjusting to challenges that life brings. My goal is to help all individuals feel their best and find a sense of balance and wellbeing in their life.
Diagnostic Evaluations
Oftentimes, when someone is seeking help for their child or for themselves, it is difficult to know where to start and what would be the best course of action. A diagnostic evaluation can help act as a roadmap to better understand what is going on for your child or yourself and where to go next.
In a diagnostic evaluation, I will meet with you and your child and, using a combination of standardized measures, clinical interviews, and my own experience and expertise, work with you to gain a deeper understanding into the emotional world of you or your child. After several sessions, we will meet again to go over the outcomes and findings, discuss recommendations, and provide you with a written report that can be used to secure further services and help you navigate the world of mental health services.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a unique experience and opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences and challenges that you do. This can allow members to feel supported and understood by people that they do not know and hear tips, strategies, and guidance from other people, as well as the group therapist.
Therapy groups are typically run on a time-limited basis and are offered based on a specific topic or challenge. In the past, I have run groups for teachers during the pandemic, teenagers navigating the changing world, individuals with social anxiety, rising college students, young adults on the autism spectrum, and more. Check back for announcement or inquire about current group offerings.
Parental Consultation
While at times, individual therapy for your child is the most appropriate, other times, you as parents need support to help your child, manage difficult behaviors, or alter the way that you relate to your child.
Parental consultation is often time-limited and skill-based and focuses on specific areas that parents want to improve within their home. This might include things like behavior and discipline, responding to your child’s big emotions, help managing transitions (e.g. bed time, leaving for school), or how to talk to your child about specific topics (e.g. eating/food, emotions, scary or sad events).
School Consultation
As a licensed clinical psychologist and certified school psychologist, I have a unique perspective on mental health in schools and how social and emotional issues and concerns affect all members of a school community. Having worked in several schools, both as a school psychologist and as a consultant, I am able to provide support to staff, administrators, and students based upon the needs of your school.
I have experience providing workshops and talks to faculty and staff, consulting about social and emotional learning, and more. Please see my school consultation page for more information.
